When you think of Easter, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Start Planning. Planning goes into effect months before Easter Sunday gets here. Many shop for new outfits for their family to slay on Easter Sunday Church Service. Your child had to look the best. I use to love it when all the mothers paraded their fancy new hats and the little ones looking cute trying to remember and say their Easter speech. Afterwards there may be an Easter egg hunt, baskets of goodies for the kids to enjoy and many older saints like the chocolate bunnies too. As a child, I’d look forward to the after Church Easter egg hunt (never had much luck finding a lot of eggs) but I enjoyed it.

When all is done, what would Easter be without a delicious home cooked Sunday dinner. As I got older, it would cross my mind around Easter I’d wondered, what does an egg have to do with Easter? It seemed so out of place. Well, from a Christian perspective, Easter eggs are said to represent Jesus' emergence from the tomb and resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus, which Easter celebrates, is one of the chief tenets of the Christian faith. The resurrection established Jesus as the Son of God and is cited as proof that God will righteously judge the world.

For many African Americans, Easter—sometimes called Resurrection Sunday— some say is one of the most important religious holidays of the year. Why? The resurrection of Jesus, as described in the New Testament of the Bible, is essentially the foundation upon which the Christian religions are built. Hence, Easter is a very significant date on the Christian calendar. And, it’s also a celebration of a new beginning, when Jesus rose from the dead.

And what about that chocolate bunny? Her symbol was the rabbit because of the animal's high reproduction rate. Spring also symbolized new life and rebirth; eggs were an ancient symbol of fertility. According to History.com, Easter eggs represent Jesus' resurrection. ... The first Easter Bunny legend was documented in the 1500s. I guess the other candy received was just a bonus.

May you and your family be blessed as you celebrate the true meaning of Easter, from the reflection of Good Friday to the joy of Easter. May your life be blessed with joy and prosperity?

Happy Easter!

I hope I’ve said something to help you a tad bit
